Matthew Dear just released the single, “Her Fantasy,” the front-running track off his new full-length album Beams, set to be released at the end of August.
The track is superbly light-hearted, taking you on a scenic stroll through a tropically lavish backdrop, coupled with chant-like vocals from the natives -- that is to say, if the song was released prior to the year 2000, it would have surely made an appearance on the soundtrack of The Beach.

Dear’s sixth album, coming two years after releasing Black City in 2010, which
was perhaps his most praised work. When asked about his upcoming release, Dear
said: “I’m about 4 to 5 different people at any
given time. By allowing all of those different personalities to exist… the most
pure and direct self can come through in the music.”
Give the track a shot -- you have to be a
special kind of asshole not to at least enjoy the general theme.
