Lambchop & Alina Harden @ Tractor Tavern

What a beautiful Thursday for lamb chops! Straight out of Nashville, Tennessee and fresh off the grill, Lambchop proves to be way more than just a cut of meat. Formally known as Posterchild, the band has gone through quite a bit of changes while still keeping strong to their roots. Defined as a sort of country alternative, their latest release "Mr. M" is a sound that I have never heard before. Sorta retro, a touch of jazz, and a beautiful arrangement of strings and piano that combine together with an ease and breeze of a hot summer day. Being in the music business for roughly two decades gives you that kind of credential to play something as unique as Chops. The voice as thick as split pea soup behind the band is Kurt Wagner, who gives the group a soulful twang much of the likes of Curtis Mayfield and getting knee deep in the mud like Johnny Cash. What a threat. Listen to the entirety of "Mr. M," there's something about it that makes me never want to take off my headphones.

Accompanying the stage with Lambchop is upcoming Portland country and folk artist, Alina Hardin. Her guitar picking style reminds me a lot of Iron & Wine, and a voice that is dreamy and soothing, a perfect combo with Kurt's syrupy drawl.

Get saucy with these two acts tonight! Show starts at 8PM, $15 in advance and $18 at the door. 21+, sorry chillins.

I think I should be writing a love letter to this song.
